On the Night Shift: Pauline, Forever In Our Hearts.

Dear Pauline,

I meant to write this on your birthday but I couldn’t form words in my heart because my heart, our hearts are still broken.

We are still in pain and pieces over your death.

Every day, we try our best to hold on but it is difficult.

It has been so difficult.

I don’t know if this pain will ever go away. I doubt if it will go away.

Whoever said, time dulls the pain, LIED.

They lied!

They said the pain goes away but every day, the thought that you are no more breaks our souls.

I can’t look at your pictures without crying.

Questions upon questions.

What should we have done differently?

What were your last thoughts?

How did this happen?

Should we have seen it?

All questions, never answers.

I do not have any answers but I know I miss you so much,

We miss you so much Pauline.

I keep thinking back to the last time I saw you alive. I wish I had stayed back but how could I have known it’d be the last time?

I keep remembering the special bond you shared with Richard and keep asking God why He didn’t let you live to nurture that bond?

To live for both Richard and Wealth?

But who am I to question God?

He knows best.

I have always loved the nightshift song by the Commodores as a young girl.

Never knew the true meaning till a few years ago.

A song mentioning some great singers, like Marvin Gaye and the power of their music.

It reminds me of you so much now that I can’t listen to it anymore without crying

Today, I share the lyrics of the song to tell you we miss you and we cherish all you were when you were alive and all the memories we created today.

Your life was like a candle in the wind.

Blown off too soon. Too early.

Oh, Pauline!

No one to gossip with again. No one to share my thoughts and feelings with again.

They are bottled inside and I know the day, the dam breaks will be one hell of a day.

But still, I, we all take solace in the fact that you are resting in the bossom of the Lord

Pauline On The Night Shift

Paulina Omoziku Esegine: On The Night Shift

Marvin, he was a friend of mine
And he could sing his song
His heart in every line
Marvin, sang of the joy and pain
He opened up our minds
And I still can hear him say
Oh talk to me, so you can see, what’s goin’ on
Say you will, sing your songs, for evermore, evermore

Gonna be some sweet sounds
Comin’ down, on the nightshift
I bet you’re singing proud
Oh, I bet you’ll pull a crowdGonna be a long night
It’s gonna be all right, on the nightshift
You found another home
I know you’re not alone, on the nightshift, ooh
You found another home
I know you’re not alone, on the nightshift

Jackie, hmm, hey what you doing now
It seems like yesterday, when we were working out
Jackie, oh, you set the world on fire
You came and gifted us
Your love it lifted us higher and higher
Keep it up, and we’ll be there at your side
Oh, say you will, sing your songs
For evermore, evermore, evermoreGonna be some sweet sounds
Comin’ down, on the nightshift
I bet you’re singing proud
Oh, I bet you’ll pull a crowdGonna be a long night (Gonna be a long night)
It’s gonna be alright, on the nightshift
You found another home
I know you’re not alone, on the nightshiftGonna be some sweet sounds (Sweet sounds)
Comin’ down, on the nightshift (Oh, on the nightshift)
I bet you’re singing proud (I know you’re singing proud)
Oh, I bet you’ll pull a crowd (Oh yeah)
Gonna be a long night (Gonna be alright), it’s gonna be alright
On the nightshift, on the nightshift
You found another home
I know you’re not alone, on the nightshift

Rest on, Pauline. We love you and you are forever in our hearts.

Your Siblings
